Marquesas Hotels
back to South Pacific

Often referred to as “The Most Remote Islands in the World,”
these mysterious islands have majestic volcanic peaks rising from
the depths of the ocean floor. Rocky cliffs encircle most of the
islands, so beaches are few and far between. Be prepared –
there are no white sand beaches typically seen in most of the islands
in the French Polynesia. Land is often only accessible by small
bays.
The islands are steeped in Polynesian history, and many of its
inhabitants practice the ancient traditions of the culture, such
as body tattooing. The Marquesas are the islands chosen by artist
Paul Gauguin to live out his final years.
If you are looking for a vacation experience that is out of the
ordinary, remote and beautiful, the Marquesas offer an attractive
option. Fall into the rhythms of Marquesas life as you step back
into a time where stress and the modern pace is unknown.
